The book explores the rich theme of Love,Emotions,Betrayal, War and Friendship.The book revolves around the lives of Sivagami,Paranjothi, Prince Narasimhan and Emperor Mahendra Pallavan.Divided into 4 Impactful Volumes,The book is a power pack collection of thrill and suspense. Sivagami is a well acclaimed Bharatnatyam Dancer and an epitome of beauty who has fallen in love with the prince of the Pallav kingdom. Whereas,Paranjothi is a young and enthusiastic individual who has stepped on a expedition of making his loved ones proud and to become a better warrior. The book takes an interesting turn when a Buddha bhikshu, Naganandi enters their lives and guides Paranjothi and Aayanar (Sivagami's Father) in every matter.
The Enthralling journey of Paranjothi to Ajanta caves and his dedication to fulfill the wish of his Guru Aayanar takes him on a mission that soon changes his whole life. The fight sequence between Pallavan kingdom and Pulakeshin makes the book a lot more Intriguing that always keeps you on the edge of your seats. One of my favourite things about this captivating novel is the innocence and charm of Sivagami. Her Honesty towards Prince Narasimhan and the purity of her heart makes her character a lot more glorifying and impressive. The book is based in the medieval era that encourages readers to delve deeper into the historical richness of Indian culture and art making it an exquisite read.
Overall Sivagami's vow is the First part of the book's series that dives into the diversity of the much appreciated Tamil author Kalki's celebrated works. The climax is very well crafted and brings some tears of joy and contentment to your face. The book ends with a question of unfolding the afterlives of the characters that hooks your attention towards the second part. Manikandan's translation has truly added a crystal layer of experiences and Mesmerism to the story that helps all range of readers to associate with it. A Must read!
